March 19, 2016

13 Transit Traders gathered on the eve of Spring.  12 Artists traded.

We discussed meeting at a local restaurant in Oil City for lunch before the next meeting in May.  Linda will coordinate and communicate the details.   Thank you Linda!

Jackie shared a product that she has found to be very effective for dry skin.  Check out this link:

Our first swap was our blind trade of ATCs of Countries for the 2016 Theme - France and England. Then, we did our Show and Tell of the 2 Challenges from the last meeting: "Using an ATC from a Mail Swap as Inspiration" and what we named "Nicole's Technique" - otherwise known as the "Vinegar and Baking Soda Watercolor Technique."  We then did our Regular trade and traded JAMS.

The objective of "Using an ATC from a Mail Swap as Inspiration" was to take an ATC that was received in a trade and use it as a starting point to create your own ATC. Here is an example. This is the original ATC received in a trade.

It featured a reproduction cigarette label graphic, hand-stamped lettering, and faux ruby gem and was created by Colleen Conway in Holland, Michigan.

Nicole realized the quote referenced scripture verses regarding wisdom. She used the Bible verses and was inspired to create a triptych ATC.
