We had a great meeting on Saturday! 12 people were in attendance. 13 traded (1 by proxy).
Lisa Tawney did a demonstration: “Stack, Tear, & Shuffle;” to quilter’s, this technique is known as “Stack & Whack.” We will be using one of the cards we made with this technique for our next challenge.
Lisa has also agreed to do our next demonstration: a very cute paper doll that fits perfectly on an ATC.
We then did our show and tell challenge from the last meeting which was "Ancestor - Real or Imaginary." Such creativity!

We did our regular trade and JAMS.
We discussed details for our upcoming ATC Exhibit at the Mosaic Café in October. We will only have 2 more meetings until the exhibit, so it will be here before we know it!
Mary Morgan at the Mosaic has agreed to schedule the exhibit opening for Sunday Sept. 29th at 3pm. Usually the Mosaic Café is closed on Sundays, but Mary is willing to come-in on her day off. We will supply the food; she will sell drinks.
The theme for the exhibit is ATCs. We are going to self-select our submissions. We also formed committees: a Display of Biographical Information About the Artists, Food for Opening Night, a Title Panel, and Publicity,
Stack and Whack:
Cut three or more pieces of coordinating, decorative papers slightly larger than ATC. I wouldn't try more than five.
Stack papers on top of each other.
Rip or cut pieces into a number equalling the number of pieces of paper, so if you used three papers rip into three parts, four pieces rip into four parts and so on.
Ripping will give the final background a more artistic look while cutting will be more precise.
After ripping papers, keep each stack together and lay on table in front of you.
Leave the first stack alone.
Second stack, put first piece of paper (the one on top) on the bottom. Set aside.
Third stack, put first TWO pieces of paper on the bottom in the exact order they are in - so top one goes first then second one.
Repeat if you have more stacks.
Take top piece from stack one, two and three and reassemble to make background. (like puzzle pieces)
Next, take the top piece from each stack and do the same until all backgrounds are reassembled.
Each group should have one piece of each of the decorative papers and none of the three should be exactly alike.
Use your favorite adhesive to glue to blank ATC.
Let dry, then trim edges.
You now have three (or more backgrounds) to use in anyway that you like
